Cells educates young people on the consequences of crime.

Cells project receives community grant

Case Study

We have awarded a community grant to Cells Project.

Run by rehabilitated ex-offenders and victims of crime, Cells focuses on educating young people on the consequences of crime, through educational programmes, intervention workshops and mentoring. They are based in Kirkby, Merseyside.

To date they have worked with over 165,000 children/young people – their primary age target is 10-17 years of age. The Cells team offers empathetic support from someone who has overcome issues the young people are facing.

Cells mentors and behavioural intervention team strive to reduce young people’s involvement with crime and anti-social behaviour, by challenging negative views and equipping them with skills to improve resilience to problems.

We are proud to support Cells’ ‘itsup2u’ initiative, the end element of the mentoring provision offered to young people. Once a young person has completed Cells’ mentoring programme, they are offered support and guidance to help them with their next steps, focusing on these aspects to reduce reoffending:

  1. Accommodation & Support
  2. Education, Training & Employment
  3. Health – Drugs & Alcohol
  4. Finance, Benefits & Debt
  5. Attitudes – thinking & behaviour

Cells door is always open should young people require further support. Visit cellsproject.com.
