HM Pasties Foundation receive a good cause donation

We’re delighted to announce we have awarded a good cause donation to HM Pasties Foundation

HM Pasties Foundation support people leaving prison in the North West to enter paid employment in the food and catering industries. Their work provides a bridge into work, helping individuals fulfil their potential, learn new skills, and divert from a life of crime.

We have offered the foundation a grant to support their catering training programme which will support ex young offenders build a sustainable career.

“We adapt our training programme to suit the age of the individual. E.g. younger candidates in young offender institutions (15-17) require a different approach to young people in mainstream prison (18-21). There are often gang affiliations to be conscious of when designing and delivering group work programmes.

Young people in the criminal justice system face multiple challenges: around 60% have low levels of literacy and numeracy, around 50% have neurodiverse conditions, and 1/3rd  have learning difficulties or disabilities. 25% of young people in prison have experienced care, and a high number have been expelled from school.

They therefore require more support in gaining skills and qualifications to enter the workplace”. – HM Pasties Foundation
