Helping Young People in Carlisle Access Opportunity

Case Study

The Arete Foundation is delighted to support The Rock Youth Project and its Rock Futures programme, which supports young people in Currock, Carlisle who are at risk of becoming disengaged from education, employment, or training.

Based at the heart of a large council estate, The Rock Youth Project provides a safe and welcoming environment where young people can access support, mentoring, creative activities, and positive relationships.

The Rock Futures programme focuses on building confidence, practical life skills, and employability. Through weekly sessions, young people are supported with CV building, interview preparation, communication skills, budgeting, teamwork, and hands-on activities that help them gain confidence and direction.

Many of the young people supported by the project face significant challenges linked to deprivation, limited opportunities, and community risk factors. The project’s relationship-led approach ensures that young people receive consistent encouragement and support from trusted adults within their own community.

We are pleased to support this important work and the charity’s commitment to helping young people build resilience, broaden their horizons, and move towards brighter futures.
